Official Mallard Duck Appreciation Thread

Postby mellorina » Mon May 18, 2009 9:23 pm

Here is a thread to post all the latest news, speculations and general chat about the up and coming third album. Please keep all posts in here so the board doesn't get so cluttered and we all can come to one thread for the latest and relevant information. This post will be edited and updated with the latest news regarding the third album that is as previously stated relevant and worth a read.

Official Track Listing:

Arctic Monkeys are pleased to announce they will be releasing their third album 'Humbug' on Monday 24th August 2009.

Produced by Josh Homme in the Mojave Desert and LA, and with James Ford in Brooklyn, the album features ten new Arctic Monkeys songs.

Please feel free to suggest other things I can add to this thread, hopefully this will stop the board from being cluttered with unecessary news and threads and will mean the more important news is all easily accessible in one place.

If this is 'epic fail' then it'll be deleted but hopefully it'll be a success.

P.S cheers Mellor for letting me use your account.

I already put this on a different thread, but I figured I'd put it in its proper place.
I don't know if anyone has noticed this, but in the Look North interview with Matt, he said that the album will be released before Reading & Leeds, which starts the 28th of August. So looks like we have a 3-month wait.
Maybe we'll get a single before then...

Didn't someone say it would be released on the 24th August? That would make sense I suppose and would perhaps mean we'd get a single in July sometime.

Beats me. I haven't heard anything official besides that much that I said. That would be a possibility though, I suppose.

Just read the article in NME fuck me I didn't know they had 25 songs recorded with 14 making the album. Also Rick Costey is mixing it that can only be a good thing. The only new song title mentioned is one called Jewellers Hands.

NME article pretty much confirms the 24th will be the release date.

"Did we mention that they have to do all that by the monday before the Reading and Leeds festival"

Mm. I have a feeling Go-Kart will be on it. I could see a Pretty Visitors single though...

I've edited the main post with the NME scans (credit epitsme) and the new song titles.

As for the article itself I think it's a usual NME article that has it's good informative bits but dominated by NME gibberish and the NME trying to be whitty which frustrates me because if they cut the crap we could have a more informative article.

100% agree there, I thought the article in itself was a bit of a disappointment. We knew most of what was said already, such as, for example, that they had recorded with Homme AND Ford. The only thing we really learnt was a definite date for the album and the name of a new track.
